Giving Tuesday is all about giving back to the causes that keep our world moving in the right direction. This year, we're teaming up with Protect Our Winters (POW), a community of athletes, creatives, and outdoor enthusiasts fighting to protect the places we ride, surf, and explore.
The effects of people on the environment can be harsh. The mountains, oceans, and skate spots we love need advocates.
So this Giving Tuesday, we’re rolling together with POW to support action that keeps the future of outdoor adventure alive.

Nixon and Protect Our Winters for Giving Tuesday 2025
Let's start with a quick history lesson on POW.
Pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones started POW back in 2007 after traveling around the world and seeing firsthand how climate change was shrinking snowpacks and changing the mountain environments he depended on.
With no organizations working to rally the snowsports community around climate action, Jones took the lead and founded POW - the first climate advocacy group for outdoor athletes, creatives, and brands.
Today, POW counts over 77,000 members and unites the entire outdoor industry to depoliticize the climate conversation and fight for the places we love. Their message is clear: losing powder days and clean air means risking our way of life, our economy, and our environment, so there’s no time to sit back.

POW’s mission is to turn passionate outdoor people into climate advocates, using our shared energy to push for real action and non-partisan policies that keep mountains, forests, and coastlines healthy for generations to come.
They work to depoliticize environmental conversations and unite all backgrounds in the fight to protect clean air, clean water, and a livable planet so every session, run, or ride into the future still feels just as legendary.

POW focuses on six pillars. They are:
- Tell stories to inspire change. Each year POW supports 5-10 films on important topics related to their mission.
- Educate and train on climate. POW puts on over 300 trainings per year.
- Amplify our voices globally. POW has shown up in places around the world including The United Nations Headquarters and NATO Headquarters.
- Protect public lands. This year, POW is working to protect rivers, canyons and mountains across Colorado, Nevada and Alaska.
- Pass climate legislation. In 2022, POW helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act which included the largest climate investments in US history.
- Stoke the vote. POW engages with real voters across the country to encourage political participation that benefits the environment.
